History
Lots of hustle and bustle... and relaxation too: Café Bar Bilbao has always been a place for socialising.
Perhaps the most famous of these was the literary gathering in which Lauxeta participated during the Second Republic and the Civil War.
The Café Bar Bilbao shares more than a century of history with the city of Bilbao itself: republics and monarchies, the emergence and rise of nationalism, civil war (it was confiscated from its owners), Francoism, transition, floods, economic crises, urban redevelopment, the emergence of tourism…
This ‘cultural bonus’ added to the purely hospitality aspect is very important for Café Bar Bilbao, which is why, in addition to collaborating with various activities organised in the city, it organises different events in its own space: talks, recitals, dramatised readings, theatre performances and musical performances.
The annual ‘Theatre Script Award’ is particularly noteworthy. All of this is done in the service of Bilbao, so that Bilbao residents feel at home and visitors get to know us.
